How to Bleach your hair with ORGANIC products at home - No harsh Chemicals!

Lightened sun-kissed hair is the major hair trend for this season: The vacation Hair.

"Here’s the key to mastering vacation hair: there should be a slow gradiation of the hair color as it goes lighter towards the ends and it should look totally naturalByrdie

But you can totally get this look at your house with minimum budget:  one of the oldest recipes to bleach your hair naturally in Brazil is the Chamomile tea method, have you ever heard of it?

All you need is a strong dose of chamomile tea (Matricaria recutita)

Depends on the length and volume of your hair, but 2 tea packs are enough for children and adults 3 to 4. The stronger the better but you don't need too much!

Boil the water and let them brew for 2 to 3 hours - also to make sure they're cool enough to be handled. Wash your hair with the mixture you want a blonder effect or simply spray supperficially for a more subtle change.

This recipe is sun-activated though, so you need to sun bath for at least 20 minutes - or simply until it dries. When it dries you'll see your lovely highlights.

Once you're finished, wash your hair and condition it well.

You can also repeat the process one more time or every week to keep the effect. It not only naturally "bleaches" your hair but also gives it a bit of shine, but of course, don't over do it - everything too much can be harmful . Another great way to do it is with honey and olive oil.

Unfortunately Asian, Indian and deep black types of hair may not respond so well to this treatment since they don't bleach easily, You can achieve a natural copper tone though.

However if you have a dark hair that naturally lightens on the sun, like most Brazilians (mostly mixed race people do), you can totally achieve it. The good part is that you can give it a try since it has no harsh chemicals.

HNSTYLE BLOG TIP: if your hair gets too much on the copper side you can wash you hair with a lilac shampoo to "cut" the yellow.

WHY DOES IT WORK?

You may not know but the Chamomile extract is present in many hair products nowadays, but it's been used for over 4 Thousand of years! The Egyptians already used the flowers in a tea for its marvelous effects.

The plant has also calming and relaxation effect and is used on the skin to calm the redness after waxing, on baths to moisturize and brightens up the skin,  astringent properties, being a great anti-acne remedy and also to reduce the amount of oil from oily hair, scalp and skin.

Chamomile may be used internally or externally.

Internally it helps fights cramps, anxiety, depression, fevers and insomnia.

"Extensive scientific research over the past 20 years has confirmed many of the traditional uses for the plant and established pharmacological mechanisms for the plant's therapeutic activity, including antipeptic, antispasmodic, antipyretic, antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-allergenic activity.

Recent and on-going research has identified chamomile's specific anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, muscle relaxant, antispasmodic, anti-allergenic and sedative properties, validating its long-held reputation. " by herbwisdom

Acid Found in Lemons & Limes

ps. AND DO NOT USE LEMON or LIME JUICE! SIMPLY DON'T!

Although lemons and limes do work on lighting up skin and hair - and have been used for years -  the effects can be awful!

Lemons and Sun exposure can cause even SECOND DEGREE BURNS!
Even from a simple Popsicles or drops of the  juice - I know because it happened to a friend when we were young. It's called phytophotodermatitis. Here's an article with interview of a sad case that happened to some little girls.

Lemons and Limes contain citric acid, and as any acid, it does not work well on the sun.
Here are more awful pictures of the lime sunburns.
